My Opinion on Antis/Antifans…

quite a strong title if I may say…but I think that I have something to say after an incident occurred and it involved SNSD…yeah, I know, I may sound like defending my favorite girl group in here…but I’ll try to write this as objective as possible…

if you haven’t knew already, the incident is about a group of people who throw lightsticks (or glowsticks) at SNSD while the girls were performing White Day Concert on March 14, 2010…I don’t like to assume things as false assumption is the root of all misunderstanding…but I can’t help to think that the people who did this are antis…this is not the first incident that hurt the girls and the SoNEs (as why there are people who hate someone you like)…a K-Pop fan would remember about the incident in Dream Concert 2008, where joint-task-force of other fandoms decided to put their lightsticks off when it’s SNSD’s turn to perform…but that’s in the past, being a newcomer in SNSD fandom, I don’t dare talk about it, since I don’t know anything about the reasons…tho yes, after knowing that past, I was hurt…

the recent incident however sparks my interest more as I still don’t know what the reason(s) behind their action (the Dream Concert 2008 incident has a reason from what I’ve heard, tho I don’t know what that is)…is it because of something SNSD did as a group? or is it something a particular member did? or is it simply to convey a message of hatred? or maybe, they are some fans who actually felt disappointed by the girls’ performance? a lot of possible reasons, yes…any right reason to hate, no…because I believe there’s no reason good enough for us to hate an idol group…

the glowstick throwing occurred at 0:33…

take no wrong assumption of me…I was once an anti, of SHINee…bash me if you’re a SHINee fan, but trust me, those days as an anti was short-lived and OVER, as I realized I gained nothing by becoming an anti…do I like them now? not quite, but that doesn’t mean I HATE them…I mean, for real, I won’t bash them, and I still watch varieties with them in it, as long as it doesn’t show only them…if I were to watch their performance, I wouldn’t throw things at them, rather, I’d just step back and give their fans chance to move closer to them…I would even clap my hands to their songs if I they ask the audience to clap…why? simple, I want to respect and appreciate them, that’s why…

the groups, and I mean all of the groups, went through hardships before they are popular right now…and now, they still have to cope with their tight schedules and stamina-draining activities…for all the hard work, all of them should be respected and appreciated…just imagine yourself in their shoes, what would you feel if someone just bash you out of the blue or maybe for some simple reasons…like maybe, “you got a lot of attention and love that you don’t deserve”…hey, WHO ARE US to decide? when we don’t like something, that doesn’t mean everyone should not like it too…hell, even that doesn’t mean your best friend should not like it too…

and truthfully, I am SICK of the fans-antifans war going on nowadays…or in my term, lovers-haters war, since there are A LOT people who claimed to be a neutral but actually take sides…saying that one is not an anti but bashes a group anyway, or saying that one is not a fan, but defends the group anyway…the thing is, once the lover(s) know the fandom of the hater(s), some of them tends to bash the group the haters love…which makes them, the haters…IMHO, all fans or lovers alike, should take a defensive stance…just don’t attack…and stand united…be a respectable fan, just think it like this, would our idol(s) be happy to see us trash talking other idol(s)? who might have a very good relationship with her/him? by thinking this way, I’m able to withdraw from the antis world…

and NO, this doesn’t apply only to K-Pop…to those from Indonesia, stop hating pop bands you don’t like…I was once their anti…name it, whether it’s ST12, Kangen Band, or other pop bands with similar kind of genre…if you don’t like them, don’t watch them…stop trash talking about them, with the same reason as above…I am already ashamed of what I did in the past, because there’s nothing proud in it…if the reason is to protect Indonesian music, then start making some music that you think will be a good influence to Indonesian music…because trust me, we won’t protect Indonesian music with just preaching about hatred towards other…

final note…let the peace reign over all fandoms…
