Well, today is a very tiring day. I spent around 5 hours going around and most of the time it was either standing, or walking. When I got back home I almost can’t feel my feet. And just as this blogpost title read, it was because I got an invitation for Joo’s fanmeeting, along with 79 other lucky people.
If you don’t know who’s Joo, I don’t blame you. She is a solo singer from JYPE who debuted in 2008. She got a strong vocal, thus her songs are mostly ballads. Which of course got overshadowed by other idols’ songs, even by her own labelmate. Here’s one of her MV, titled 나쁜 남자 (Bad Guy).
The fanmeeting was scheduled to be held at 5.30 PM. But somehow (as expected), it got delayed for some 15 minutes or so. The thing is, we’re lining up to enter the fanmeeting room and in other room near it, there was a wedding reception. And some of the guests of that wedding kept asking, “Ini pada mau ikut audisi apa ya?” (tl: “What are all of you auditioning for?”). It kinda annoyed me, so when I was asked what are we doing there, I answered quickly: “Fanmeeting. NOT an audition.”
Then we entered the room. It was small, but since there were only 80 fans, it’s acceptable. The MC opened the event with some small talks and then we get to watch Joo’s new song “Ice Cream” (collabo with SuJu’s Leeteuk). Shortly after the MV ended, the MC invited Joo into the room. And in a split second, roars and clappings ensued.
I got a charismatic image of Joo. So when she entered the room, I was stunned. It was totally different. She cut her hair short, and swear-to-JYP, she is friggin cute. The corners of my lips were spontaneously lifted. I. Could. Not. Stop. Smiling.
She then greeted us in English, and I know she’s trying hard to speak English. At one moment, it seemed that she tried hard to remember what she’s gonna say and she scratched her head in confusion. So cute.
Next event was Q&A. Luckily, I got chosen first to ask, and being stunned by her uber cuteness, I only asked a stupid-simple question: “What Indonesian food do you like?”. She answered Nasi Goreng. By that time, I really want to say “I’ll make it for you!” in Korean. But yeah, my Korean skill is pretty much the same as slug so I only used my imagination. =P
From other questions, we got to know that Joo has actually lived in Indonesia before. She said that when she’s around 3 y.o. her father worked in Cilegon and he brought her with him. Now, now, tell us where exactly so that Joo’s die-hard fans could make pilgrimage to the house. *whistling* Anywho, she said that she would love to come back again to Indonesia, but as a traveler, not as a performer. And as expected, all of us were saying that we’d gladly be her tour guide next time.
Then came the quiz event. The MC threw several questions and challenges to the fans, with 5 signed CDs at stake. In the “Korean Greeting Challenge”, I was chosen by the man who supposedly choose the participants of the challenge, but the MC denied me JUST BECAUSE I’ve already asked a question in the first part of the fanmeeting. The MC instead chose another guy to participate. This guy stuttered a lot when he greeted Joo (I know I’d be too), but he’s too expresionless. Even when Joo herself decided that he’s the one who would got one of the signed CD, he seemed not excited at all. I mean, COME ON! That CD got Joo’s own signature! If it was me, I’d be all in a hooray-ish mode. But enough about that, what actually caught my attention is that she was very regretful when she only has to pick one winner out of two or three. She even pouted a little and went “Awww”, and her expression at that very moment was extremely cute! It was so cute that I think it was contagious, since her translator unconsciously pulled off a similar thing after that.
Later at the event, we were given permission to take pictures of her. And she stood up, smile oh-so-lovingly to us, and gave different poses. Not having a pocket camera, I could only snapped a few pics using my iPhone, so the quality is far from good. But I’ll gladly share a few (click the pics to see a bigger version).
After several minutes taking her pictures, Joo asked for our permission to take a picture of us, the fans. Of course we gave her the permission in unison. Up until now, she was being polite, and after she asked this she then upped her cuteness level. When she was given a picture capturing device (presumably her own iPhone), Joo actually got up on her chair, standing on it, and took picture of us. Me and my friend, Vicky, made a big heart together above our heads for her. Well, after all the cuteness she’s given, she deserved it. Heck, she deserves more, that’s why I promised to myself that I’d cheer for her when she opens the concert tomorrow.
And regarding me spending a total of 5 hours on the street, standing and walking? It was well worth it. The fanmeeting was not even an hour (or if it was, time flew so fast I didn’t notice it *grins*) but along that time, I literally couldn’t help myself but to smile while looking at Joo. Even now, when I’m already on my bed, I still smile when I look at the pics I’ve taken.
Thanks for the fanmeeting Joo! I will surely cheer for you tomorrow! Btw, if a miracle happened, and Joo’s reading this, I was the one who wore “Batik” shirt on top of yellow Mooks t-shirt and sitting in the middle at the back. I know this is a hopeless hope, but I hope you remember me. xD
